Name: Uryuu Ishida
Fandom: Bleach
Age: 20

College, Job, or Both: Uryuu is a college student. He's a junior, double majoring in fashion and literature. I have no idea what he's doing either.

Hobbies/Extracurricular Activities: Uryuu doesn't have a whole lot of friends or a huge social life. His hobbies include sewing, sewing, and more sewing, and studying. For a bit of spending money on the side, since he can hardly call up his father and ask if he'll spot him the money for a dinner out, Uryuu sells clothes he's made to a small boutique in town.

He can sometimes be dragged out to a club, but he's not every social. He'll stand back with a tonic water and listen to the music and just people -- more like wardrobe -- watch.

Brief History: The family name of Ishida is synonymous with excellence in the medical field. Every Ishida, male or female, for about the last 50 years has been a doctor. The least famous and successful one was just a general practitioner, not a world famous cardiologist or neurologist.

So Ishida grew up as quite the black sheep in his own family and household since from an early age, he had no interest in being a doctor or working in a hospital. This could be blamed on the fact that his mother suffered for years from kidney disease and all throughout his young life, he would go visit her in the hospital when she received dialysis and other treatments, before her eventual death when he was 7. She was groggy and tired after these and knew he didn't want to see her like this, so she'd often tell her son go to play. But his father wouldn't let him leave so Uryuu would often go up to his grandfather's office, who was then chief of surgery.

He found his grandfather's office to be very pleasant and relaxing, with a little rock garden on his desk and a soothing water fountain near the door, and every type of potted plant he could imagine out on the balcony, all carefully tended to when Souken had time -- and when he didn't, Uryuu would. Souken had a lot of books in his office, not just medical texts, and Uryuu would just read away the day until finally his father came to take him home.

Two years after Uryuu's mother died, Souken retired as chief and the title went to Ryuuken so Ryuuken was quite busy and the nine year old Uryuu cooked a lot of his own meals, mended various things. He continued studying hard and his grades were excellent, and he excelled in everything. Even biology. But he was the boy in the class who come dissection day, found a way to talk with the teacher and go sit outside the principal's office that class, or did some sort of online dissection. He was fine with blood -- just cutting into some little animal's body and looking at all of its organs made him squeamish.

Going into middle school, there was a form for electives he needed to get filled out by Ryuuken but there was some short of nurse shortage emergency at the hospital so he wasn't able to turn the form in on time. By the time he did, all of the "cool" electives were filled up and Uryuu found himself in a home ec class with all the girls that focused on sewing.

That was the end of any sort of medical future Uryuu might have ever had or been forced into. He found something he actually enjoyed.

His grades continued to be excellent all through school, and it eventually came around to be time to apply for colleges. He had no interest in the various schools that all the famous doctors did their undergrad for. He had his sights set more on various famous art schools -- Parsons The New School for Design, Fashion Institute of Technology, Drexel University, Moore College, The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Or just skipping college completely and getting a job in New York or Paris and working his way up in the fashion world. He would start as a secretary or a seamster in a design house, he didn't care. Everyone had to work their way up somehow.

Ryuuken was appalled at this track Uryuu had chosen for himself and refused to pay for any of it. That was fine with him -- Uryuu had been offered scholarships from every school applied to. He didn't take the full scholarship at F.I.T. though because his last year in high school, his grandfather fell ill and Uryuu wanted to stay with him during his ailing health and not be all the way across the country.

Which brought him to Mishima University right there in San Francisco.

Is your Character Social (makes friends easily) or Anti-social (more guarded)? Uryuu is very much anti social and does not at all make friends easily. He often comes off as arrogant, cold, and stand offish, and a bit of a braggart and maybe even a bit prudish. This turns many people off from him.
